Comprehensive Medical Eye Exams

An eye exam is one of the best ways to protect your vision. Many eye diseases have no symptoms until they are in the advanced stages, but through an eye exam, Dr. Buseth can detect problems at the earliest stages - when it is the most treatable.

Other things that will be checked during your eye exam include eye movement, peripheral vision, color blindness and glaucoma. The doctor will also look at your retina, fundus (back of the eye) and optic nerve head. Regular eye exams are necessary throughout your life to maintain healthy eyes.

Pediatric Eye Care

Infants, toddlers and preschoolers should have their vision checked each time they visit their pediatrician. Comprehensive medical eye exams should be performed on children between the ages of three and five.

Your child's vision should definitely be checked before he or she enters first grade. Often, children will not complain of vision problems because they don't know what "normal" vision looks like. A comprehensive medical eye exam can determine if your child does have a visual problem, helping to correct it at a very early age.

If you feel your child is performing poorly at school, be sure to have their eyes examined to rule out an underlying visual cause.

Laser Vision Correction

At Eye Services of Jackson, we'll answer all your questions about laser vision correction so that you can decide if it is right for you.

Patients who have chosen Eye Services of Jackson for laser vision correction overwhelmingly believe that it has changed their lives. They are no longer dependent on eyewear to maintain their sight and can enjoy everyday activities like sports, driving and cooking - without glasses.

Call us today to schedule a free screening to determine if you are a candidate for laser vision correction.

Macular Degeneration

Macular degeneration occurs when the center of the retina, known as the macula, is damaged. Macular degeneration is the leading cause of legal blindness in people over the age of 55.

Eye Services of Jackson can detect signs of macular degeneration during a comprehensive eye examination.

Although there is no cure for macular degeneration, early detection is important. Once the disease is identified, treatments are available to slow the progression of the disease and to preserve vision.

Contact Eye Services of Jackson today to schedule your comprehensive medical eye exam. We are working hard to preserve your vision.

Glaucoma

Glaucoma is caused by a backup of fluid in the eye. This fluid builds up pressure, and overtime can cause damage to the optic nerve.

Through early detection, diagnosis and treatment, Eye Services of Jackson can help you preserve your vision. There are several different tests to determine if a patient has glaucoma. These include the Tonometer, which measures the pressure in the eye, an opthalmoscopy, which allows the doctor to look directly through the pupil to the optic nerve, and a visual field test.

Glaucoma can be treated with eye drops, pills, laser surgery, eye operations, or a combination of methods. Treatment will help to prevent further loss of vision.

Diabetic Retinopathy

Diabetic Retinopathy is the most common eye disease among diabetics. It occurs as a result of damage to the blood vessels in the retina and is a leading cause of blindness in American adults.

Those with diabetic retinopathy may not even notice the change in vision, at first. But over time, this disease will get worse and may even cause vision loss in both eyes. It is recommended to have a comprehensive medical eye exam at least once a year.

Remember, early protection and timely treatment can help to prevent loss of vision.

Low Vision Rehabilitation

People with low vision have a reduced ability to see, due to disease or injury, that cannot be fully corrected by surgery, medicine or conventional eyeglasses. Eye diseases, such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma may cause low-vision making daily living tasks, such as reading or driving, difficult or impossible.

Eye Services of Jackson provides low vision rehabilitation services to those with low vision and visual impairments. We are skilled in training patients to use adaptive techniques and optical devices to regain the ability to read, engage in hobbies and perform the tasks necessary to maintain independence and enjoyment of life.
